Margaret "Lady Goldiver" Weller

This bio was written by her husband Bob "Frogfoot" Weller and posted in one of his books Famous Florida Shipwrecks of the Florida Keys.

Born in the tropical setting of Trinidad with the enchanting background of steel drums and a gentle Caribbean breeze. Margaret has always been a water flower. At the time, her father, a ruddy Englishman,Margaret Weller worked for Shell Oil and it want unusual for the Mathews family to spend much of their traveling time on the more glamorous ships like the Queen Mary, en route to far-away places that National Geographic readers only dream about.

After a try at college life in Georgia and Florida, Margaret married and lived for a while in Venezuela where her sons Alan and Robbie were born. As some marriages have a habit of not quite working out, she moved to Florida with her two boys and again took up housekeeping with her parents who had retired there. wile working as a tour guide and business manager of the Miami Serpentarium, the Weller side of her life developed. Bob "Frogfoot" Weller always had an uncanny eye for beauty - and here was one surrounded by reptiles and in need of saving This handsome devil swooped her off her feet with tales of sunken treasure and riches beyond imagination.

They were married in 1974, and have for the past 16 years been romantically following the trail of "Pieces of Eight" and Gold Doubloons." Margaret is the binder that holds their treasure diving operation "Crossed Anchors Salvage" together. When days, weeks, even months of frustration at finding absolutely nothing begins to wear down on the divers, Margaret's easy laugh and a "Tomorrow we'll find it" smile is enough to keep sprits high. And the treasure is there! Bob and Margaret together have recovered enough gold, silver, jewelry and artifacts to fill a museum. Margaret and Deo Fisher are the only woman divers to ever recover a "Royal," a perfect gold coin struck as a presentation piece for the King of Spain. She's one in a million.
