With degrees in Marine Biology and his Juris Doctorate in Admiralty Law he is a marine biologist and an expert in maritime and legal affairs relating to salvage. John Fine is frequently called upon for expert opinions relating to salvage or ocean issues. John holds several degrees in science along with his degree in marine biology and his jurisprudence degree, as well as advanced studies degrees with training in the field of ocean research. John Fine was called upon to testify before the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives about the Abandoned Shipwreck Bill. John Fine also speaks numerous languages and worked in the Diplomatic Core for the State Department.
John Fine has received numerous prizes and awards for his work in marine
conservation including the Freedom Award, the Herman Melville Literary
Prize, and the gold medal of the World Underwater Federation for his work
organizing the Miami World Underwater Congress. He is a fellow to the
Explorers Club, and officer of CMAS - the World Underwater Federation, and a
member of the Academy of Underwater Arts and Sciences, and has received the
prestigious Stoneman Marine Environment Award.
John Fine continues to log hundreds of dives every year and produces upwards of 100 articles on various topics in magazines and newspapers, as well as writing two new books each year.
